I am the biggest fan of High Tea / Afternoon Tea’s so when one of my girlfriends suggested trying out The Waiting Room (TWR), located at Crown Casino – I wasn’t going to refuse. I love the concept of miniature foods made up of sandwiches, scones and desserts put together with a selection of teas, or champagne.
I have previously been to High Tea at the Grand Hyatt which I rate very highly. The selection of desserts was nothing short of amazing – there was a massive spread from crepes to a fondue fountain – so my expectations were high. The Waiting Room is both classy and elegant and to match this the food is served on a silver three level platter.
The clear standout dishes for me were the Sandwiches – I enjoyed all the combinations (except the chicken which I didnt try) – especially the Cucumber and Chive. Scones to me should be like eating clouds – soft and warm and just melts in your mouth. The scones from TWR are FANTASTIC!! The flavour is one that I haven’t tried before in scones -and I am not usually a fan of orange flavour in desserts – but orange and vanilla really worked. The mini desserts were nice, but nothing that tasted out of this world.
What I do like from TWR also is the many varieties of tea that is available – there are 9 different types to choose from and the friendly waitress explained what each of them contained and the flavour that would result which was extremely helpful! Another positive is that if you do not finish your food, the staff will pack them into little boxes for you to take home.
Overall a great, fun and filling experience and I think for the price value for money.
