Being frustrated with the selection of glasses in physical retail stores as well as the expensive prices – the founders (David Menning, Doron Kalinko and Tony Zhuang )decided they should do something about this and be part of the change with the common goal of “helping people to find what they love”! VisionDirect was founded in 2006 – in their apartment – with the Australian site being launched in 2007.
Coming from different backgrounds themselves, the founders believe diversity is the key of building a successful business.
What I love about VisionDirect is that they contribute to the greater community through their social program – Smart Buy Glasses – which offers free prescriptions glasses to poor communities. For every glasses that are purchased; VisionDirect will donate a pair of glasses to someone in need. How good is that!
I was lucky enough to receive a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses – which I absolutely love!! You can see them in the pictures above and below. Because there is such a variety to choose from; it took me a while to select this particular pair. I love the Tortoise Shell detail and the frame shape.
